Wage
Guidelines
The minimum wage in Ontario is $6.85 per hour or $301.40 (Canadian
dollars) for a forty-four hour workweek. However, depending on the
location of employment, wages of up to $10.00 per hour may be payable
depending on the number of children and their ages or if elderly care.
If the need arises for an employee to work beyond
forty-four hours, two options are available for additional compensation
to be made to the employee. They are, either (a) payment of wages at one
and a half times the regular rate OR (b) time off equivalent to one and
a half times the overtime worked.
However, live out nannies/caregivers are paid a
minimum of $8.00 - $14.00 per hour depending on their qualifications and
experience.
